Elder Law
In recent years I have developed an interest in elder law. Most of my career I have worked with members of older generations in planning estates, planning charitable gifts or settling the estate of a loved one. On a more personal level, my father developed Parkinson's Disease and Alzheimer's, and my mother struggled to care for him at home as long as she could before finally moving to a retirement community with fulltime nursing care. Many decisions had to be made, and it was a difficult time for the entire family.
The time I spent as a member of the board and on the staff at Alive Hospice has had a profound influence on my life. I saw families dealing with end of life issues for the young and old, and admired the dedicated care provided by the staff members who worked tirelessly to ensure a dignified and painless transition from life to death, caring for both the patient and their family members.
My interest in working with families dealing with these concerns prompted my return to law practice with a focus on elder law.
